Even a small country like Switzerland can have a popular reserve currency when it's backed by a well-armed population and fiscally-wise leaders.

A free people ought not only be armed and disciplined, but they should have sufficient arms and ammunition to maintain a status of independece from any who might attempt to abuse them, which would include their own government. George Washington.

Real assault rifles, and somehow they don't go around shooting each other.
I wonder how they manage that.
    • James Icon 4 days ago
They don't because a person wanting to shoot someone knows the other person, and all his family, and all his freinds, and all his co-workers, and all his aquaintences, also own assault rifles too.
    • Louie 4 days ago
      it's like a massive standoff
    • John 4 days ago
No James, it is because most of them are civil and do not WANT to hurt their country men. We here in the US don't give a crap about our neighbor down the street, which is what is wrong with this country. Do you really think someone in a murderous rage is going to care what a persons friends or families have?

So they polled people concerning gun ownership...HAHAHAHAH. In Kennesaw, GA and lots of other U.S. towns, every home is legally obligated to maintain a firearm. Now if you don't comply, no problem. If YOU don't tell on yourself, NOBODY WILL KNOW !
Ya'll need to understand, criminals don't like that kind of mystery !
    • laddie whitecomb 4 days ago
Legally req'd to have a firearm in your home in Kennesaw. Is that correct? Is that a local ordenance? do you know how far back that law went into affect.I might owe someone an appology if I get your answer
    • douglas1st2001 4 days ago
that law goes back to before the turn of the last centuryl...poloticians dont want that law and law enforcemnt is not allowed to enforce it. Georga put that law on the books in 1770. to my knowledge that law has not been removed....other states also put that law on the books as well
    • Hugh 4 days ago
"...poloticians dont want that law and law enforcemnt is not allowed to enforce it."

Not true, the law never had a penalty for non compliance, also if caught you can claim to be an conscientious objector. Despite that there is a very high gun ownership in Kennesay. Still gun crimes went down 86 percent after this law went to effect. Also the law went into effect in 1982 not 1770. Think about it, everybody had to have a gun in 1770 to fight off the Indian's! No need to make stuf up!

The Supreme Court has ruled that the police are not required to protect you. They are however required to try to catch your murderer or rapist. I for one would like to have the opportunity to protect myself.

The next time you hear or read of a young lady missing and presumed kidnaped, ask yourself if you think she would still be missing if she was armed. Ask yourself how you would react if she was your daughter and the state you live in wouldn't allow her to carry a gun for protection.

The state of California is a haven for criminals because very few law abding citizens are permitted to carry. Criminals on the other hand carry whatever they want. This is very sad indeed.

So the most neutral country in the world requires military service?
  • flash  •  Fitzgerald, Georgia  •  4 days ago
better to have a gun and not need it than to need a gun and not have it.
  • Hamilton Jordan  •  4 days ago
If everyone carried a gun in this country, there would be alot less crime...Initially there would be a small small spike in dead criminals. Immediately after, the the crime rate would drop.

I've lived in Switzerland and it can be a little shocking when the train stops and a dozen kids board the train with their rifles and backpacks as they go off for annual training. Still, no one is nervous because the Swiss culture is one of peaceful neutrality. This goes to show you that it is the culture of the people and not the guns themselves that cause problems. Believe it or not there was a time when rifle marksmanship was a class in some high schools. American culture has deteriorated so much that it would be impossible to have that sort of thing today.

Which gets you a quicker response to a critical situation where seconds count? calling 911? or a 12 gauge shotgun?

If the mere thought of Americans owning guns scares you, imagine how terrified you would be if you ever tried to take them away from us.
