What are your thoughts on the Supreme Court's health care ruling?

The Supreme Court has upheld virtually all of President Barack Obama's historic health care overhaul, including the hotly debated core requirement that nearly every American have health insurance.

U.S. Rep. Bill Flores, R-Bryan, says "big government has trumped American liberty," and that the House will vote to repeal the law in July.

What are your thoughts?

The 80 percent who currently have health insurance are the losers-health care rationing and more expense for coverage. The insurance companies have promised that they will raise rates because of the Obama legislation. The supports say that the initial expense will evaporate when the people who don't have insurance are forced to buy it, pay a fine to the irs or go to jail. So, how do you force people with no money to buy insurance? How do you collect a "fine" when the poorest 20 percent don't pay income taxes? We are also told by people who actually do the math, that health care rationing is to become a reality along with triage based on age and likelyhood of a long term favorable outcome. Unfortunately, Huey Long was right when he said" you will neve loose betting on the stupidity of the electorate."

The Supreme Court did not "interpret" this law, they rewrote it!! It is unconstitutional under the commerce clause so they take it upon themselves to define it as a "tax" which it was never defined as. The Constitution is being dismantled piece by piece and government is becoming too big and too intrusive! People who want someone else to take care of them and who refuse to take personal responsibility for themselves and their families are allowing this to happen! If you think allowing the government to take on a larger role is going to provide you with more services, you're wrong. The only thing it will do is limit and curtail your freedom!

This is a great time for USA as they Findley fall into line with the other countries in Europe. America has let courts and Obama make you a nation of entitled whiners just like us! Great day towards one world government.

Congress should pass a tax reform and make it illegal to tax an individual for not buying something. For those with pre-existing conditions, you think you will be able to purchase health insurance in 2014. Your right! But I hope you make alot of money. My family insurance has gone up over 100% in cost with less coverage since NObama took office. It is no longer affordable. Just wait two more years. NObama is the worst President in history. Most think the constitution is the single most ingenious thing ever written. NObama thinks it is out dated. How out of touch can one man be with the country?

Further proof that we are a nation of entitled whiners. Critics on both sides paint a doomsday picture from their respective perspectives, and the hard luck stories pour forth to sway people to believe as the story teller does. The reality with this is simple, but most citizens have little comprehension of their civic duties nor the reality about government. Government produces nothing. It is a consumer. When government "promises" or mandates something, there is a cost. As the government has no other source of revenue, the cast will be born by A. the taxpayer and B. the consumers able to afford insurance in the form of rate increases. Rights, what is proper, moral etc. are all just subterfuge. If you go to a hospital in this country, you will get care. Healthcare needed to be reformed, via tort reform, abolishment of pre-existing conditions and state to state commerce with insurance, but government control? Name one thing the government has EVER done that resulted in the most bang for the buck and a good return to the taxpayer. Most people who benefit from government largess are those contributing nothing. This is a tax, adn a burden, that those with jobs will pay for, as usual.

So much to say, so little space to say it in. This is not an ilegal immigration issue or republican issue, this is an AMERICAN issue. I have worked hard all of my life along with the other 50% of Americans. I teach my children that anything worth having is worth working for. Let's put in to place a bill that puts all Americans to work so they can afford insuracne coverage. Lets put into place bills that limit the coverage we can be provided. This has solved nothing. When employers quit offering health benefits, employees would rather quit to qualify for free rent, food and medical coverage courtesy of the government and us few remaining employed citizens. Beware, unemployment rates will rise.

Remove the millions of illegals from U.S. soil to reduce the overall cost to us taxpapers, otherwise our taxes will soar. Make having insurance manditory for all citizens with no exceptions.

I'm disappointed, but there is some light. SCOTUS did not rule that the feds can force us to buy anything. The individual mandate is outside the Commerce Clause and only legal because it is a tax. There is more bad than good in this law. There taxes and boards of unelected people who will make healthcare decisions for you. Doctors are already being paid low amounts for providing services. This will make it lower. They seek to have nurse practitioners and physician assistants do work in place of doctors. Beware of unintended consequences.

It means that if you chose to not have insurance in the past, that a family of 5 will now pay about 10% of your income for health insurance or pay a penalty equal about 4% of your income. If you had a pre-existing condition that made you uninsurable, you will now be able to have insurance for 8% of your income plus another 2% out of pocket. It does not however guarantee that you will receive the treatments you want or need. That will still be decided by administrators but they say happiness is the key to health so enjoy it while you can.

I really have my doubts. I truly hope it works and everyone can afford insurance. We'll have to see.

It has its problems (which can be modified), but overall this is going to provide healthcare (a basic human right...life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness)to many more people. I have a preexisting condition, so in 2014, I will be able to purchase health insurance.

I'd rather Flores and all our lawmakers would get down to the business of writing bills that will boost our economy and improve our infrastructure rather than try to repeal health care programs that both help our economy AND allow proper care for our citizens. Let's move forward.
