2 Live Crew performs in Waco on Saturday night

Got news of this too late for Thursday's entertainment section, but 2 Live Crew, rap's bad boys of the 1980s and early '90s, will be in town Saturday night to perform at Club Energy, 7524 Bosque Blvd.

Well, two of 2 Live Crew, that is: Brother Marquis and Fresh Kid Ice. Luke (Luther Campbell) won't be with the crew as the group split up around 1996. Brother Marquis and Fresh Kid Ice got back together in 2008 and have been performing new material ("Cougar," "Boom") mixed with 2 Live Crew hits such as "Me So Horny," "As Nasty As They Wanna Be" and probably some other titles I can't put in a blog connected with a family newspaper . . .

Show is scheduled for 10 p.m. Saturday.

I remember seeing them on the Phil Donahue Show in the early 1990s. They were singing their trademark song. The title of it is too offensive for me to put it on this website though. Fabulous that this city got this gig. It's great to know that for one night Waco was the hottest spot south of Elm Mott.
