iTunes Review

The songwriting for Mary J. Blige’s ninth studio album was born on her 2008 tour with Robin Thicke. Stronger withEach Tear was initially titled Stronger and its timely trappings – like the Auto-Tuned vocals on “The One (featuring Drake)” and the Motown- inspired “In the Morning,” and “Color – From the Motion Picture ‘Precious’” are sure to someday make for a nostalgic time capsule. But when Blige’s lead single from the soundtrack to the LeBron James documentary More Than a Game failed to make a big enough dent in the charts, the moniker was retooled. “Each Tear” is well worthy of such status; it’s catchy, inspiring and overflowing with the kinds of timeless R&B harmonies that Blige’s fans have come to expect. “I Am” is another standout as it reflects Blige’s sunnier disposition while maintaining the fierce confidence that fueled her former diva theatrics. Bonus track “Closer” grooves with mellow beats and melodic harmonies so infectious, it’s curious why this song wasn’t a regular album cut, if not a single.

This is Mary at her best. I'm loving the album and my standouts are Said and Done,Good Love,I Feel Good,I Am,I Love You(yes I do). You can stop looking for it this is The One to buy if you want to jam the night away. I Am takes up where Can't Live without you left off. Biography

Born: January 11, 1971 in New York, NY

Genre: R&B/Soul

Years Active: '90s, '00s, '10s

When her debut album, What's the 411?, hit the street in 1992, critics and fans alike were floored by its powerful combination of modern R&B with an edgy rap sound that glanced off of the pain and grit of Mary J. Blige's Yonkers, New York childhood. Called alternately the new Chaka Khan or new Aretha Franklin, Blige had little in common stylistically with either of those artists, but like them, she helped adorn soul music with new textures and flavors that inspired a whole generation of musicians....
