The '60s Live Again

I normally HATE new groups that re-create the sound and vibe of the '60s, but there is something honest and truthful, catchy, weird and fun about this album from this band. If you at all like lysergic Beatles or Stones, or the San Franscisco bands that inspired those Brits, but want something updated or with a tinge of modern DIY and fractured pop, then give this a listen.

Foxygen is one of my TOP TEN for 2013

I like that Foxygen pays homage to bands like The Beatles, Velvet Underground and early Kinks. I like that they do this but still manage to sound original! How? Timeless lyrics that could easily could have been written then as now, referencing California (a lot) and humor. They do have a hippy-triply vibe, which I like… I am feeling it in so many of their contemporaries in 2013, like Tame Impala and MGMT. This album was on replay when I first got it and remains enjoyable months later. One of the best of the year, for sure!

What?

This band exists?! Definitely one of those albums you just stick on repeat for a couple weeks. Soo good

Learning that Anton Newcombe, mastermind behind the Brian Jonestown Massacre...
