Editors’ Notes

Information overload and its effect on modern man is the starting point for Content Nausea—although in typical Parquet Courts fashion, the album’s songs freely range over a host of private obsessions. Recording his latest opus on four-track cassette, band leader Andrew Savage fuses avant-punk influences like The Minutemen, Crass, and The Raincoats into a cranky, rattletrap sound that surrounds his deadpan vocals. The jittery paranoia of “Psycho Structures,” “The Map,” and the title track is fleshed out with tinny beats, distorted guitars, and low-fi synthesizers, sustaining a dystopian mood that fascinates even as it unnerves.

Content Nausea

If you liked Parquet Quarts' rock sound on Light Up Gold and want to hear more of it then listen to it again and don't buy this album. However if you want a more pop sounding album with deeper lyrics and the same energy and Parquet Courts feel, buy this one.
