Album Review

The Best of Wham!: If You Were There... is an excellent collection, featuring all the group's biggest hits, including "I'm Your Man," "Club Tropicana," "Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go," "Freedom," "The Edge of Heaven," "Wham Rap!," "Young Guns (Go for It!)," "Last Christmas," and "Everything She Wants '97." Apart from the original version of "A Different Corner" (which was credited to a solo George Michael) and "Everything She Wants," The Best of Wham! includes every worthwhile song the duo recorded and makes for a terrific overview for most fans.

There are better compilations out there that are more complete than this one.

Viva la Musica!

While not an ardent fan of Wham, they do have their place in (80s) history for creating some fun, groovy, syncopated pop songs.

I made this single purchase to remind me of the memorable times when life was less complicated and carefree.

Wham! sparked something of a pop revival in the mid-'80s and could arguably be held responsible for sparking off the boy band trend of the '90s. They were unashamedly pop, to the point of padding the front of their trousers for television appearances. At the heart, however, was a string of catchy singalong singles written...
