Customer Reviews

Lulling. Lovely. Lush.

Haley Bonar's voice is rich and warm. Her mellow songs have a way of lulling one into loving her. This folky, mellow, lush record is on a regular repeat on while at work, studying, and in the car. I just can't stop listening to her lovely voice.

Thoughts on Big Star

Highway 16 is one my favorite songs ever. It has a great, upbeat, blue-grass stomp kind of feel. I've listened to it 18 times :-) Since I loved Highway 16 so much I purchased the entire album. I was really disappointed as Highway 16 was the shining star and all the other songs were dim by comparison. Truly, if I had to, I would pay the entire album price to get Highway 16, but many of the other songs sounded a lot like a derge and kind of depressing. Haley, you are great, but please play some more upbeat, blue-grass, foot stompin' music!

Back To Good

Loved "The Size of Planets". Hated "Lure of the Fox". But we are back to good again with "Big Star". Pretty songs and fun melodies. Like it.

However, her sparse take on folk-rock displays little of Low's narcotic gloom, and more pertinent comparisons include Mazzy Star, Shannon Wright, and Elliott Smith. Accompanying herself alternately...
