Gwen + Remix = Bad Idea

To take a great dance album and add random sounds and beats is a crime... a big crime in this case. Not only are there only 4 tracks that were remixed, all of them are just plain bad. "Luxurious" is not remixed first off all. The only thing that was remixed to it was that Slim Thug lends his voice to the track, which doesn't do it much justice to begin with. "Cool" sounds like something from a corny 80's sci-fi movie gone wrong. "Hollaback Girl" sounds like a blend of Super Mario and a CD skipping. Finally, "What You Waiting For?" really makes you wonder what you are waiting for. The tick-tocking goes on and on... and on. It gets quite annoying and makes you wonder if the song ever ends. I loved the original album, and generally I like remixes, but this remix album seem like a poor attempt to capitalize on the fact that Slim Thug raps on "Luxurious." The songs they remixed are sloppy and do not do them justice.

Just as Cool

Those remixes are just as Cool as the originals (no pun intended); they could never replace the songs they're spinned from, but instead they became a whole new song all to themselves. Definitively worth it.

What You Waiting For? Buy These!

Gwen Stefani is pretty diverse & though I'm more of a No Doubt fan I have enjoyed her attempt at going solo. These are all exciting remixes that I would recommend purchasing. Jaques LuCont is extremely good at what he does, and What You Waiting For? is a great example. I've heard the Hollaback Remix before so don't go around telling your friends it's something new. Unfortunately the whole album hasn't been remixed, but seeing this is only an EP I'm sure there are more remixes on the way. If I had to choose I would reccomend Cool (Richard X Remix) & What You Waiting For? (Jaques LuCont Thin White Duke Mix). Side Note: No Doubt is currently writing a new album :D
