Until the age of 12 Marguerite Abouet spent her childhood in Ivory Coast and then moved to Paris. Her book series Aya is one of the most successful comics in France and has been translated into many other languages. The story of the three adolescent girls growing up in the late 1970s in Africa has also been animated as a movie. Participant of the European Literature Days 2015.

Nach ihrer Kindheit an der Elfenbeinküste lebt Marguerite Abouet seit ihrem 12. Lebensjahr in Paris. Ihre Buch-Serie Aya zählt zu den erfolgreichsten Comics in Frankreich und ist in viele Sprachen übersetzt worden. Die Geschichte dreier heranwachsender Mädchen im Afrika der späten 1970er Jahre wurde auch als Film animiert.
